School Meals and Menu

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day. If you do not want your child to have a free school meal, they can bring their own packed lunch.

Children in Years 3 – 6 may bring in their own packed lunch or have a cooked meal at lunchtime. Cooked meals cost £2.30 per day. The children can have a cooked meal every day or have a mixture of packed lunches or hot meals.

Children in the nursery classes who stay over the lunchtime period must bring their own packed lunch.

Packed Lunches

NUT ALLERGY

There is a child in our school who has a severe, life-threatening allergy to nuts. Touching, eating or being around nuts may provoke a severe allergic reaction. For the safety of this pupil, we are asking parents not to send any food containing nuts to school in their child’s packed lunch box. Thank you for your support and understanding of this potentially life-threatening allergy.

If your child brings a packed lunch, you need to ensure that they are balanced and healthy. Crisps / chocolate / cake etc. can be put in as an occasional treat. Children will have access to water with their packed lunch but may bring in their own drink if they would like to. Please do not send fizzy drinks or glass containers into school.

School Dinners

Each day, children have a choice of two main dishes (one meat option and one vegetarian) or a jacket potato. To view the menu for this term click here.
Payments for school dinners should be made via Parent Pay.

Free school meals are available for some children. Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

Very Important - Free School Meal Funding for Schools!

It is very important that you apply for free school meals even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and even if you want to send your child to school with a packed lunch. Part of the funding that school receives is based on the number of children entitled to free school meals. Therefore the more children we know about the more money we get to spend on our children. If you would like any support with the application process, please ask in the Office.
