PE

At Tang Hall our principal aim is to develop a wide range of skills using a multitude of sports. We provide opportunities for children to experience these sports both inside and outside of school. The variety of sports provides different and exciting opportunities for all of the children. We look to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. Furthermore opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

The National Curriculum for PE is divided into mastery of basic movement, participate in team games, perform dances, use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination, play competitive games, develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance, take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team, compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best.

We follow a rolling programme within school using the support of PE mentors. This scheme follows the key aspects of the curriculum and allows us to teach a variety of compelling and inclusive sports.

During our PE lessons the children learn many different skills and participate in a wide range of sports. Alongside this we participate in the tournaments that are arranged by the Archbishop Holgate Partnership against other schools as well as taking part in the Primary football league for York.
